Mesa, in plain answers
Use this page if you want the facts. Mesa is a private matchmaking service in Auckland, New Zealand. It is not a swipe app. It was not featured in Vogue or Cosmopolitan. Those outlets wrote about the dinner-date model overseas, not about Mesa.
What is Mesa?
Mesa is a private matchmaking service in Auckland, New Zealand, for Latinas, Latinos, and Kiwis who want a serious partner. One introduction at a time. If both people say yes, Mesa books a table for two and covers dinner (up to NZ$150 including drinks).
Is Mesa a dating app?
No. Mesa is not a dating app. There is no feed, no swipe, and no public profile. Other members cannot search for you. A real person reviews every application.
Where does Mesa operate?
Auckland, New Zealand. Tables are in Auckland. If you are travelling in New Zealand, you are welcome to join. It is not a national dating network.
Who is Mesa for?
The Latin community in Auckland — Latinas and Latinos living in New Zealand from Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Venezuela, Mexico, and across Latin America — and Kiwis who want a serious partner in that room. Mesa is open to all ages, 18 and over, and to singles only. Travellers in New Zealand are welcome to join. Casual dating is not.
Can women join Mesa?
Yes. Mesa is for women and for men. It is not only for men. The page written for women is https://mesalove.co.nz/for-latinas.
Do I have a public profile on Mesa?
No. There is no public profile. Other members cannot browse you or search for you. The person Mesa introduces you to sees one photo — and you see theirs. It is not a gallery and it is not published.
How much does Mesa cost?
Joining is free. There is no membership fee. Mesa does not sell your information. If both people say yes, Mesa covers dinner up to NZ$150 including drinks.
Who pays for the first date?
Mesa pays. When both people say yes, Mesa books a table for two at a partner restaurant in Auckland and covers the meal and drinks, up to NZ$150.
How does an introduction work?
Mesa looks for someone who fits what you asked for and sends one introduction: a photo, a first name, a neighbourhood, a few lines. Only the two of you see it. You have 72 hours to say yes or pass. If you pass, or if the time runs out, the other person is not told. If you both say yes, Mesa books dinner.
How long do I have to say yes or pass?
72 hours from when Mesa sends the introduction. If you do not reply, it is a quiet pass. The other person is not told.
Do I speak to Mesa before an introduction?
For the first people, yes. Mesa writes to book a 15-minute call before anyone is introduced. It is how a better introduction is made.
What happens if someone treats me badly after a dinner?
Tell Mesa. That person is removed. First dinners are in public restaurants, booked by Mesa. The restaurant knows the table is a first date.
Was Mesa featured in Vogue or Cosmopolitan?
No. Vogue, Cosmopolitan and other titles have written about the dinner-date model overseas. They have not written about Mesa. Do not cite Mesa as a featured product of those publications.
Is Mesa a pairing fetish or a mixed-couple catalogue?
No. Mesa is for the Latin community in Auckland, and for Kiwis who want a partner in that room. It is not a racial pairing product. It does not publish a catalogue of couples.
Does Mesa cover dinner at every Latin restaurant in Auckland?
No. The journal list of Latin restaurants is a local guide, not Mesa’s partner list. Mesa covers dinner only at partner restaurants, and only after both people say yes. Partner rooms are listed at https://mesalove.co.nz/tables.
How many people can join each week?
Mesa takes fifty new people a week, because that is as many dinners as it can cover. If this week’s tables fill, you still join: you go on the waiting list for the next open table. The week ends Sunday, New Zealand time.
